Local Gossip:
- Staples is closing. The Steinway location is in its final days, with many items now 50% off.
- Athena Market has closed on 31st St & 23rd Rd. Rumor has it Under Pressure may be expanding into the space.
- Steinway Street was packed Saturday night as fans celebrated Egypt's World Cup victory.
- Astoria Park Pool has already had two "Code Brown" closures this season. Summer is officially here.
- Nova Cafe & Juice Bar officially opens Saturday, July 11 at 8am with freebies, a raffle, and music.

Lap Swim

Take part in a long-distance lap swim competition. To participate in the competition, please speak to an Aquatics Specialist on the pool deck and indicate this on your application. An awards ceremony will be held at the end of August to celebrate the health and fitness achievements of swimmers who complete 15 miles or more.
