ASTORIA LIVE | SEPTEMBER 14th, 2026

Good afternoon, Astoria!

Last week, we had an abundance of figs. This week, we’ve got more cultural festivals, outdoor movies, plant shopping, performance art, and dozens of more reasons to fill your bellies and empty your wallet!

Local Gossip:

  • The Astoria Art Walk begins Monday, Sept. 14! Check out the work of 14 local artists in 13 businesses throughout the Ditmars community.
  • Shoutout to @aph_757 for this gorgeous sidewalk pansy made entirely from bottle caps.
  • Outdoor Cinema is back at Socrates Park! Next screening is Sept. 26. More info at @socratespark.
  • The free Party in the Park takes over Socrates Sept. 19 with live performance, music and more.
  • Astoria Park now has a Yeti’s Belly Fort made of rocks, sticks and leaves. Someone asked how much the rent is. Honestly, fair question.
  • Brunch & Citi Field is hitting both The Bonnie and Sweet Afton on 9/20! Sign ups for the final home game of the season are still open.
  • Shoutout to the guy cruising down Ditmars on a scooter with TWO huskies. One had sunglasses. Incredible.

Cheers,
Angelina & Stacey

Meet Diamond

Diamond is the tiny, four year old, cat-manager of Fresh One Deli & Grill, located at 34-02 31st Avenue. When she's not playing hockey with half-and-half lids, she cautiously holds the deli floor from afar. Although she's a bit shy, the owner is clear: "This is her house."

But don’t worry — there’s still plenty happening around town. The first-ever Astoria Brasil Fest on 31st Ave Open Street was a success, bringing Brazilian music, food, culture and community to the neighborhood! And there’s more on the way: This week, you can also catch the Astoria Gay Book Club, Taylor Swift karaoke, Tarot Talk, the 31st...
