Good afternoon, Astoria!
The weather is heating up, the Knicks are heating up, and "Knicks in 4!" might as well be Astoria's official slogan right now!
With the Astoria Carnival packed up for another year, we're officially kicking off Astoria summer season. If you're not watching the game at your favorite local bar, you're probably looking for a way to cool off (please don't make that Hallet's Cove). Hang tight — Astoria Park Pool is almost open!
Until then, we've got plenty of events and local happenings to keep you busy this week. Scroll on for the latest!
Local Gossip:
- Mayor Mamdani was spotted at both Rivercrest and Murphy's during Saturday's Knicks game.
- Burmese Bites is moving into 38-01 31st Ave, according to a recent social media post.
- Several people were spotted swimming in Hallet's Cove... Astoria Park Pool can't open soon enough.
- Parkside Panini is officially open at the north end of Astoria Park.
- Astoria Coffee shared that former President Bill Clinton recently popped by for lunch.
- A colorful public piano titled “Music Heals Us” by local artist Talisa Alamonte was spotted in Astoria Park — yesterday was its last day in the park before it gets moved to its permanent home.
-
A new herb and flower garden has been spotted on 31st Ave/31st street, and we're here for it!
- Krave It's Ditmars location has been dark for a while now — anyone know what's going on?
- A drone was spotted flying between buildings near Astoria Blvd and Crescent. Any theories?
Cheers,
Angelina
